Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CogniSport handles information in the CogniSport app, the optional external CFF hardware workflow, account and leaderboard features, and this website. CogniSport is sports cognitive training and experimental visual timing software. It is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis, treatment, or medical decision-making.

Information We Collect

You can use CogniSport without an account. What leaves your device depends on whether you choose device-only mode or sign in for cloud features.

  • Local training and CFF records: module type, completion date, duration, score, difficulty, trial counts, notes, CFF estimates, confidence values, and similar session details are stored on your device. We do not receive these device-only records.
  • Optional account information: if you sign in, Firebase Authentication processes your email address, account identifier, display name, sign-in state, and the credentials needed to authenticate you. Firebase Authentication processes your password; CogniSport does not store it in Firestore or its profile records. If you choose Google Sign-In, Google also processes the basic account and technical information needed to complete sign-in.
  • Optional profile and cloud summaries: signed-in profiles can include a username, 64 × 64 pixel avatar representation, Firebase user ID, selected sports, daily training-time preference, daily plan and completion state, leaderboard scores, best or latest metric summaries, session count, and timestamps. These records are stored in Firebase Firestore.
  • Profile image choices: if you select a photo, the app reduces it on your device to a 64 × 64 pixel avatar representation for your profile and the leaderboard. The original source file is not uploaded to Firestore, but the reduced representation is. If you use your Google profile image, Google and Firebase may also process its profile-image URL as part of account services.
  • Bluetooth and device information: Bluetooth permission and nearby BLE connection state are used to connect to an external ESP32 LED controller and set flicker frequency. CogniSport does not use Bluetooth for location tracking.
  • Service diagnostics: Firebase and Google sign-in components may process limited service, device, network, and diagnostic information to authenticate users, prevent abuse, and keep cloud features working. This is separate from product-interaction analytics.
  • Support communications: if you contact us, we may receive the information you choose to provide.
  • Website data: this static website does not intentionally place analytics scripts or tracking cookies. Firebase Hosting and infrastructure providers may process standard request logs needed to deliver and secure the site.

How We Use Information

  • Provide sign-in, device-only mode, profiles, leaderboards, and account deletion.
  • Save local training history, CFF entries, notes, and performance metrics on your device.
  • Build and save an optional daily training plan and show progress, module results, and leaderboard summaries to signed-in users.
  • Connect to optional external CFF hardware and control flicker frequency through Bluetooth Low Energy.
  • Operate, secure, and troubleshoot account and cloud services.

Local Storage and Optional Cloud Features

Device-only mode does not require an account. CFF entries and full training-session records stay in on-device storage. If you sign in, the app sends the account, profile, daily-plan, and leaderboard summary fields described above to Firebase. The original local session record remains separate from those cloud summaries.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

CogniSport does not use Firebase Analytics and does not send product-interaction events to an analytics service. The app does not show third-party ads, sell personal information, share personal information with data brokers, or combine information from CogniSport with data from other companies for targeted advertising or advertising measurement. CogniSport does not track you across apps or websites. It therefore does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.

Third-Party Services

CogniSport uses Firebase Authentication, Firebase Firestore, Google Sign-In when you select it, Bluetooth Low Energy APIs, App Store distribution services, and Firebase Hosting for this website. These providers may process information for the limited services they supply and under their own terms and privacy policies. Their processing is limited by the services CogniSport configures and the controls available through those services.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share information only as needed to operate CogniSport, comply with law, protect rights and safety, process App Store or service-provider functions, or display leaderboard information you choose to make available by signing in and completing leaderboard-enabled activities. A leaderboard can show your username, reduced avatar representation, score summary, and session count to other users.

Retention and Deletion

Local CFF entries and training sessions remain on your device until you delete them in the app, delete the app, or erase the device. Firebase account, profile, daily-plan, and leaderboard records remain until you delete your account, request deletion where available, or the records are no longer needed for the app. The in-app account deletion flow removes your Firebase account and the associated CogniSport profile, daily-plan, and leaderboard records. Service providers may retain limited security or operational records for their own documented retention periods. Deleting CogniSport does not delete your Google account.

Your Choices

  • Use CogniSport in device-only mode without creating an account.
  • Delete local entries and sessions from within the app where supported.
  • Delete your account from the app settings.
  • Revoke CogniSport's Google account access from your Google Account settings.
  • Revoke Bluetooth permission in iPhone Settings. Profile photos are chosen through Apple's system photo picker rather than broad photo-library access.
  • Choose whether to use Google Sign-In, email sign-in, leaderboards, or external CFF hardware.

Children and Minors

CogniSport is intended for athletes and performance training contexts. It is not directed to children under 13. Minors should use CogniSport only with permission and supervision from a parent, guardian, coach, or authorized organization.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and you use CogniSport with that understanding.

International Use

If you access CogniSport from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where service providers operate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as CogniSport evolves. The updated date will show when the policy last changed. Continued use of CogniSport after a change means the updated policy applies.
